Rays 8, Mets 4 (6/14/25)
Mets pitchers allowed four unearned runs and the team ended up on the wrong side of an 8-4 game Saturday night at Citi Field.
After the Rays took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, the Mets answered back in their half of the inning. Brett Baty tied things with a homer and Brandon Nimmo had an RBI to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.
But it all fell to pieces in the fourth, as the Rays chased Tylor Megill with a five spot, helped greatly by an error on Megill.
The Mets tried to make it a competitive game in the fifth. Ronny Mauricio hit a solo shot and Nimmo again came up with an RBI single. But the Mets were not able to take advantage of scoring opportunities in the seventh and eighth innings and the end result was their second straight loss.
Griffin Canning takes the mound Sunday, as the Mets look to salvage things with a win in the final game of the series.

Another disappointing game and a rare two game losing streak. Phillies move to 3.5 games back. Need a win today to get a little momentum before hitting the road to Atlanta and Philly. Then returning home for a four game set against the Braves. The next ten games is critical to show who the big dog is in the NL east. 🤞🙏
Didn’t see the game, but in watching the highlights, I saw at least four parachutes landing in short left field by the line that were hit by lefties. Megill’s pitching wasn’t bad, but that error and pitches that were a mile from the strike zone are completely unacceptable.
