Wednesday catch-all thread (1/7/26)
Please use this thread all week to discuss any Mets-specific topic you wish.
Most people want to see David Stearns land an impact free agent, the sooner, the better. Sure, count me as a member of that group. But what I’d like to see is Stearns pull off a good trade. In two-plus years running the Mets, what’s the best trade that Stearns has made? There’s not a lot from which to choose.
Perhaps it was getting Tyrone Taylor. Or maybe it was Huascar Brazoban. And while technically a purchase, let’s throw Luis Torrens into the mix, too.
Is that enough to make you forget about the trades for, among others, Ryan Helsley, Cedric Mullins, Jose Siri and Ryne Stanek?
And which group will Marcus Semien join?
It’s almost enough to make you long for Billy Eppler. Hey, when Stearns trades for someone as good as Chris Bassitt (2.8 fWAR in 2022) that will be a good day.

From MLBTR
1:35pm: The Mets have made Tucker an offer with a $50MM AAV, per reports from John Mincone as well as Robert Murray of FanSided.
Looks like Edward Cabrera is coming off the board as the Cubs are working on a trade for him with Miami. Seems like he would have been a good addition in Queens, but Stearns is so damn slow at doing anything. I'd welcome Bassett back - he seems to still have it.
