It’s great to use those times as a bracket for perspective.

Rumor mill is Alonso wants 200M. But apparently close to signing 3/90 with opt-outs every year.

How many of Uncle Stevie’s strip club dollars did he save for a 1b/3B? He spent an awful lot of those bucks on the headline dancer.

LOL, while reading the middle of the article, the scene from Saving Private Ryan came to mind where they are walking through the woods going from camp to camp to find the correct Ryan and the topic of how and when to properly complain is brought up. Pretty funny scene.

It seems to me that bitching as sometimes an act of frustration (oh, you had to bring up Bozo the Manager) sometimes just wanting to be a troll (yes he went to Leyland, but take it from someone that has asked successful restauranteurs their opinion, it’s not always easy to just implement advice; you need to know when and have that feel). As for being positive, that is a benefit to our own psyche that we each make a decision on.

Thanks for commenting on the article.

As I transition my posts from the old site to Substack, I come across a lot of noteworthy things. It was interesting/painful to go thru my posts in 2017, seeing my use of different ways to beg the readers not to be so negative/depressing/miserable. It was just the first year after back-to-back playoff appearances. The level of despair was - even here in hindsight - so completely misplaced. It would have made more sense to be that way following the 2018 season. At least then it would have been two years of underperformance.

Maybe it was naive of me to think that people were going to change their level of complaining. But, again with hindsight, it was a good decision to shut down the site. I think that gave everyone a chance for a much-needed time out.

To be clear, complaining is part of the package of being a fan. At no point should we just rubber stamp everything that goes on. But my hope is to never experience that level of non-stop complaining ever again.

I think we are living in an exciting time to be a Mets fan. Cohen is making things possible that were not possible before. That being said as an arm chair GM, I am impatient. I like moves early and I like shaking things up. Train out of town for Marte and McNeil.
