The Mets definitely need to bring Manaea back for sure! I’m on board with going for Sasaki..: my only gripe with the Mets going into 2025 provided Manaea comes back is who is the “ace”… but do they actually *need* one? Hmm

I am hoping to see Buehler at Citi in ‘25.

In addition to Manaea.

Tougher choice than I thought it would be. For 1 yr I chose burnes bc of his track record as an ace leading a rotation. Proven winner.

Agreed. Burnes - but for me its an easy choice.

Sasaki is so tantalizing though. But too unproven for 1 yr.

Of course and I think they should court Sasaki to the max, but they have minimal leverage over the situation. He cannot be banked on as a win. I’d solve the pitching and if they win on Sasaki all the better. Basically free.

Just for 2025, I would choose, in order, Cease, Burnes, Manaea, Jones, Sasaki .

Cease, Burnes and Manaea have more experience in the majors than Jones and Sasaki.

San Diego wants young controllable pitching. Peterson and Megill? Or Sproat and Butto ?

Burnes would be QO draft picks (and an obligation 6-7 years ?)

Manaea if it is a 3 year contract or Flaherty if it a 5 year contract.

Seatle want help for 2B and 3B. Castillo for Baty and McNeil.

Realistically the best play is Manaea and Castillo.

The issue with Sasaki is that his agent, who also represents Kodai Senga, said that he might be better off in a smaller market. That seems shortsighted if he wants to win championships. Also the Mets have no advantage over any other team given the dollars are the same. Like Burnes but Stearns won’t go the years for a pitcher. Next on this list would be Manaea on a three year deal but not four. I’d like Buehler or Flaherty if we could get them.
