Read like a painful article to write, and I wonder on a veteran team with many free agent signees that already have “gotten paid”, how much urgency and fire there will be.
Two of Senga’s runs scored when the reliever couldn’t strand them. There should be a rule change for that, giving half the blame to the reliever and half to the starter. Get ready to see some games like last year’s August and September…
The games could give us something to watch if they decide not to play Semien every day and give either Mauricio, Baty or pretty much anyone else a shot.
Bob, you’re right. The arrogance of this administration is the main problem with this team and why they are in the position they are. It’s not just moves that don’t work out. It’s moves that are for the good of the team that aren’t made, for reasons that suit the Front Office.
Not replacing the manager when it was obvious the team was floundering; continuing to use Semien in hopes that…. (I don’t know); last year thw Mullins screw up and insistence on playing him anyway; I could go on and on, but I have too many things in my life to spend time thinking about Stearns’ acts
Im looking forward to seeing Lavender, Yan, and Nunez in the pen. Yan is very intriguing though I wonder how his strikeout celebrations are going to go over in the big leagues.
When his teammates start wearing the HBP in return he will know. Imagine doing that to Harper or Schwarber. Yikes. Hes gonna have to grow up. Turn it into a fist shake and it’ll be ok.
Well, no surprise. Stearns dismantled the team, but our young core and Lindor and Soto have remained intact as well as our catching tandem. The challenge is that we actually traded decent players, but still possess a significant number of poor players. The question is, where do we go from here? There is an unbelievable amount of work to do to retool the team. I find it hard to see, how we will be able to compete for a title next year. What worries me is that Stearns will make more knee jerk moves that dont benefit the sustainability of a winning team and organization. I look forward to seeing how our new prospects play and develop. I also look forward to seeing how our call ups will play as well. I would have been very disapoointed if Stearns made no deals. Only time will tell how we actually made out. The Mets had to actually pay Weavers contract down. One thing I am surprised about. Why wasnt Mauricio called up ? What I will not like is o see Semien and Polanco get playing time. Lets see if Baty can turn it around in 50 games, same goes for Robert. He will have to do a lot to justify his $ 20 million option for next season. I dont see it. Too much money for a fourth outfielder. Dont need to see anymore of Polanco and his .130 batting average. Rojas could make the team next spring at second or third if Bichette leaves. If Bichette keeps hiting singles for the rest of the season I dont see him leaving. For better or worse, it is a new day in Mets land.

Or games like pretty much all this year! Im not sure we’ll see any change!

The world survived Carlos Perez' strikeout dance. It even survived John Smoltz mocking it after he struck out Perez.

Are the Mets in any position to turn down free baserunners?
