Brandon Nimmo hit another grand slam and Pete Alonso slugged two homers to lead the Mets to a 12-6 win over the Yankees Saturday afternoon at Citi Field.
Nimmo leading off or Nimmo batting fifth. Doesn't seem to matter right now. He s on a tear.
Pete needs 6 to tie Straw. Im going on a cruise July 22-29. I wont be able to watch the games. So thats when I d put.a few bucks down on when he ll break the record. Im guessing July 24.
I didn’t see the early part of the game, turning it on at 5-2. Can someone tell me why Soto was bunting in the first with two on and no outs?
Very good vibes for the Mets and even the no name relievers that were picked up from the scrap heap are working out. Like the song says, “Life is good today”.
Beautiful, delicious victory. It's possible that while people singing "My Girl" every time Lindor came up was initially charming, it is now starting to grate on my nerves. I think they should play some other sweet, nostalgic Motown song every time he comes up, a different one each time, and the crowd has to adapt. Learn new words.
Yeah, I'm betting that Lindor is regretting his choice in walk-up music. He has to spend his timeout right away, so that the fans can finish singing. But there'd be a mini-outcry if he completely got rid of "My Girl."
Gut Reaction: when they hit with RISP good things happen. When they hit home runs with RISP they have an explosion. Monster Ball! Usually I would comment about using Stanek and Diaz with a 6 run lead. With the pitching staff decimated with injury and recent meltdowns from the bullpen Mendoza took the lock down win. They need bullpen help. Great series win, four game winning streak and a chance to sweep today!
Great win! Montas looked OK again, with life on his fastball! Wow, when Mauricio hits it, he really hits it. I'd play him more. When will Vientos break out? Will he? "Good Pete" became "Bad Pete", but now is "Good Pete" again! Will Cohen/Stearns let him go into free agency again and then match the best offer? What will that be? I'm guessing 7 years/$200 million now.
A big win against our crosstown rivals who are in a bit of a funk themselves. While I am a big fan of small ball, loving this monster ball explosion across the lineup. Another GS by Nimmo and Pete steals the show burying the Yankees with his second HR of the game. Hardly mattered that the end of the order was 0-14 with the front of the order going 10-18. Montas back to his first start form giving up no walks and pitching into the sixth inning. Great job by the pen giving up just two runs. Big lift today against Fried, but if the Mets bring their bats on this last day home stand, a sweep might just happen. Hoping Pete breaks the Mets HR record on 7/23 when I will be in attendance!
Devenski is actually getting the start tomorrow.
