The Mets made very few transactions for the first 25 games of the season, mostly due to the fact that their players got hurt in Spring Training, rather than the first few weeks of the year.
I advocate for the Mets to have a "5 day rest" rotation because in the past it was successful. If Blackburn is ready on the 30th then he should pitch. Blackburn then would have two starts in this 13 game stretch. Eventually the Mets are going to make a decision with Blackburn because he doesn't have any options and Manaea is waiting in the wing. If Blackburn isn't ready then Hagenman should pitch base on his last call up. Kranick and Brazoban are pitching well and eventually there will be no room for Young therefore he should be the casualty. " 5 day rest", with a sometime 6 man rotation when appropriate, is the best solution for the Mets.
As for addressing the the McNeil and Alvarez situation I posted my comment in the Wednesday thread.
Lots of starting pitcher decisions coming up and I forgot about Blackburn in the mix. With all the changes they have made in baseball, why not expand the everyday rosters to 28 and then 30 after Sept 1? Every team will still be on the same footing. It was a great change limiting the post Sept 1 rosters to just two more players because otherwise the rich just got richer with several top prospect call-ups used to inject new life and let some regulars get some much needed rest. They knew going in that Senga needed an extra days rest to be the most effective, so they need to live with that. I’d take another starter and say good bye to option-less Danny Young.
Hagenman pitched today (and poorly), so that seems to pre-empt him from that start. The Mets just used their open 40-man roster spot on Jose Urena. But any of Manaea, Montas, or Siri could be moved from the 10-day IL to the 60.

Waddell did indeed pitch Friday night, giving up 1 ER in 4 IP
