Those walks are always killers and so often come back to haunt you as they cross the plate. As a strong reliever you would hope that Holmes would not walk so many batters. I think he is still finding his sea legs going from a reliever to a starter and he will improve.

Tough loss yesterday as they had ample opportunities to get a simple hit to turn the tide back their way. It was not a game they should have lost. two down in the ninth with the bases loaded and no outs. Then we need to remember that even mediocre teams win 60-70 games and great teams lose 62-70 games.

Found it cool that the Mets were first in the most recent power ratings. Amazing from where we placed all last year. Nice to See Jake deGrom throwing the ball well and there is not a day I regret that he moved on from the Mets with his often injured arm. There was no home town discount for staying and it would have been a mess had he done so.

Trivia from yesterday, when the open thread usually occurs: On April 30, 1983 Rusty Staub set a Mets record by driving in his 25th run as a pinch-hitter.

Mets announced the following moves:

RHP Ty Adcock (#52) and LHP Genesis Cabrera (#92) have been selected to the major league roster.

RHP Chris Devenski and LHP Brandon Waddell were optioned to Triple-A Syracuse following last night’s game.

Waddell deserved to stay.

Waddell does deserve to stay because if the Mets want to protect Senga then they'll need a starter on May 6th. They can't recall Wandell for 10 days. Hagenman will probably get the start. What about David Robertson to replace Minter as the setup man? He is available.

Robertson is a great idea. But would he be ready to pitch again before Nunez is? If not, do the Mets deem Nunez' availability as negating the need for Robertson.

I suppose the need for a lefty in the pen, coupled with Waddell's lack of availability for a few days made this move happen.

I emailed Brian about the current Brooklyn Cyclones but I want to talk about this roster. If we factor in two currently injured players, the Cyclones have 13 of the Mets Top 30 prospects currently The lineup for the Cyclones is ridiculous:

1. Eli Serrano III, RF (Ranked 21st)

2. Carson Benge, LF (Ranked 2nd)

3. A.J. Ewing, CF (Ranked 17th)

4. Jesus Baez, SS (Ranked 10th)

5. Jacob Reimer, 3B (Ranked 22nd)

6. Chris Suero, 1B (Ranked 15th)

7. Boston Baro, DH (Ranked 23rd)

8. Ronald Hernandez, C (Ranked 16th)

9. Marco Vargas, 2B (Ranked 20th)

Injured: Corey Collins, 1B (Ranked 25th)

This squad (more or less) scored 15 runs behind another brilliant outing by Joel Diaz, RHP (Ranked 12th). They also technically have Jonathan Santucci, LHP (Ranked 19th) and the injured Calvin Ziegler, RHP (Ranked 24th) and may soon add players like Nate Dohm, RHP (Ranked 26th) and Matt Allan, RHP (Ranked 40th).
